I don't like threads that take ages to get the 'Reply to Topic' page. Ho! Ho! Ho! I wonder if that will shake-up ForumCo?

I've just tried the original thread again a few minutes ago, and it refused the 'Reply To Topic' page for the umpteenth time. So, we can forget that thread now by the look of things. But we can still count the 1253 postings on it and add them to the new thread (2.) Ho! Ho! Ho!

Hello All!
Sorry I didn't have time to post yesterday. I just sat down at 10am with a coffee (NO Cigarette) to log on and the school phoned to say that my son was feeling sick and could I collect him. I thought he must have had this virus coming on but once he got home can you believe it a miracle happen !! HE WAS CURED! Too right he has gone to school today!
Hey Fussy are you serious about a holiday? It's that time of year isn't it I was looking at holiday books at the weekend. We never book in advance usually something last minute. I don't think a cruise would suit us the captain would have to lock my son and nephew in the engine room to give all the other holiday makers some peace and quiet.lol. They are not naughty children just loud and like to have fun. (nothing wrong with that)

'Things I Like and Don't Like'
I don't like meddling interfearing busy bodies who are over opinionated.
Sorry Fussy, BG and Moonraker none of that is directed at any of you my friends, I am just sick to death of people on here and other sites being so petty and playing silly games all the time.

I agree with you Di,...there are loads of sarcastic, self opinionated morons trespassing these sites. I've been away for most of today,...at a great niece's birthday,...have only just got home. Still dead quiet on here eh! I expect BG and 'M' are no better otherwise BG would surely have popped in with a few words. Glad you are avoiding the ciggies Di,...keep it up 'kiddums.' Must go....Liz is calling,...suppies!

Not actually putting the dibs in a pot as other half used to buy my ciggies for me. He is gonna have a shock when I ask for my £28. lol It's been a whole week now and it's getting alot easier.
My legs are like jelly tonight. I cycled to school with my son today and back again and then I cycled to collected him at 3pm and back again. Thats a good 1 hours excercise today. I think I will ask other half for the money I am saving him in petrol as well rofl. "This time next year we will be millionaires" Del Boy!

Evening folks, Sorry i've not been around for a few days. I am not been having a good time since christmas. Still feeling rough but there is a slight improvement. Must be all the good wishes from you lot. Thanks. Had a surprise to find this thread in two parts. Fussy must be important, also very fast with the stop watch to measure millionths of a second. Must be the training and the use of Baileys.

'M' Good to hear from you...and glad that there's some improvement! The one good thing as far as you are concerned is,...you are not alone. We've all had a dose of this damn bug, and still not completely clear of... runny nose, coughs, heavy breathing, loss of hearing, misty sight, saggy legs, dragging the soles of your shoes on the carpet, droopy shoulders, wobbly knees,......shall I go on? Frustrating as we was planning a walk in the countryside today but he is just not well enough. The symptoms are just as Fussy descibed them (hope my son hasn't developed a liking for Baileys aswell )

He was feeling a bit better this afternoon after some paracetemol so we did make it out for a little walk after all. The dog had a great time splashing in the lake and wading in all the mud lol. The car park was a muddy bog aswell. What a waste of time washing other halfs car yesterday. Oh well! :-)

Princess Di hope your son is feeling ok now ,the youngsters seem to be able to shake it off quicker than use oldies . "M" and I went out for a bit of a stroll this afternoon to get a bit of fresh air ,as being stuck in the house all week does not do us much good . Feel a bit shattered now ,must do a little walk each day and build up gradually .

NOTHING or NOBODY from any other site is going to stand in our way. We will whack 'em all! What do you say Larry? Ho! Ho! Ho! Keep smiling Larry...it's good for the ticker!

Our grandson that lives with us is now back in school after his illness but he still has a nasty cough .
So your son is a budding musician is he ,what does he play for your sake I hope it's not the drums . Joking aside what ever it is he plays it is good to encourage them to take an interest in music . I always wanted to learn to play the piano but never got round to it . Do you think it's too late to start now LOL

He is learning to play the Guitar but yes he is desperate for us to buy him a drum set!!! I keep saying no we do not have the room for it lol
He says he wants to be in a pop band like McFly or Busted when he leaves school. I just keep hoping it's just a phase he will grow out of. I told him he will have to go to college and study music to do that. I don't think many of the bands today have been to college though as they seem to be tone deaf rofl

Princess Di, Glad to hear you have a potential rock star in your family. I must admit I like to listen to music, but can't play to save my life. I could play the "Comb and paper" at one time, also the elastic band between my thumb and finger. The only thing I play now is "The Fool".

Princess Di I somehow can't see "M" letting me have a piano ,he reckons I sit at this key board too long some days so I'm sure he won't want me sitting at another keyboard for another couple of hours practising my scales . The only scales he wants me to practise on are the kitchen scales weighing out the ingredients for lots of cakes and puddings .LOL

I have never been very musical. I always liked listening to music and having a good old dance around.
If I was going to choose something to play it would be a saxaphone.
Oh I can see it now "The Clueless Band"
BG on Piano Di on the Saxaphone Moonraker on his comb & paper lol

Ahhhh you poor thing Moonraker
But someone has to keep you inline
So Fussy id on the Harp (pulling a few strings)
I'm gonna put Gravedigger on the Guitar, BG on Drums
So that leaves Pauline and Fluffy to fight over singer or Piano lol
I think with Bob's dinking he best be a roady and keep us all supplied with the bevvies lol

Ho! Ho! Ho!...I've just remembered a few items that were on here a few years back, so for the benefit of Princess Di, and a few others who may not have seen them, I'll shove 'em on here again now, OK!
Huan Cho and his girlfriend Jung Lee:
One beautiful December evening, Huan Cho and his girlfriend were sitting by the side of the ocean. It was a romantic full moon, when Huan said "hey baby, let's play Weeweechu." "Oh no, not now, let's look at the moon," said Jung Lee. "Oh c'mon baby, let's play Weeweechu, I love you, and it's the perfect setting," Huan begged. "But I'd rather hold your hand, and look at the moon," said Jung. "Please Jung Lee, just once....play Weeweechu with me." Jung Lee looked at Huan Cho and said, "OK, we'll play Weeweechu." Huan Cho immediately grabbed his guitar, and they both sang...."Weeweechu a Merry Christmas, Weeweechu a Merry Christmas, Weeweechu a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year."
I intended posting this a few days before Xmas but completely forgot.
More tonight! Toodlepip.

THINGS YOU DIDN'T KNOW YOU DIDN'T KNOW!
Did you know ...it is impossible to lick your elbow.
A crocodile can't stick its tongue out.
A shrimp's heart is in its head.
In a study of 200,000 ostriches over a period of 80 years, no one has reported a single case where an ostrich buried its head in the sand.
It is physically impossible for pigs to look up into the sky.
A pregnant goldfish is called a 'twit.'
More than 50% of the people in the world have never made or received a telephone call.
Horses can't vomit.
The "Sixth sick sheik's sixth sheep's sick" is said to be the toughest tongue-twister in the English language.
If you sneeze too hard, you can fracture a rib. If you try to suppress a sneeze you can rupture a blood vessel in your head or neck and die. If you keep your eyes open by force, they can pop out.
Rats multiply so quickly that in 18 months, two rats could have over a million descendants.
Wearing headphones for just an hour will increase the bacteria in your ear by 700 times.
A duck's quack doesn't echo, and no one knows why.
Most lipstick contains fish scales.
Like fingerprints, everyone's tongue print is different.
Over 75% of people who read this will try to lick their elbow.
Ho! Ho! Ho! I know I've had these on before, but one or two of us might not have seen them at the time.

Some interesting facts there Fussy .
I tried licking my elbow .........Nope I could not do it . I will never wear lipstick again YUK. With all the sneezing I have done over the past few weeks thank goodness I never tried any of the things mentioned above or I would have been a goner . I wonder will they use the tongue print on the new ID cards they are thinking of issuing .Fancy having to stick your tongue out everytime you had to identify yourself to the official powers that be . ( I think I might quite enjoy doing that sometimes .)LOL

I remember once telling a vicar friend of ours that we were researching our family history ,he said we were wasting our time as everyone should know we all descended from Adam and Eve .Huuummmm It can be difficult doing your family history when your great grand parents had lots of children ,on of mine had 15 children and trying to find them all and their offspring was really hard .Plus my great grandfather lived in 22 different houses .

Goodness gracious me! No wonder you and 'M' are clever at this family history business. 15 kids, and a greatgrandfather who had a liking for 22 different houses. Those were the days eh!

'Ow're iw doin Fussy? I don't really know Pete! We've had visitors today so I haven't had much time on here. So I feel a bit fed-up like, 'cos I intended doing some 'burning' today but never got down to it. Larry and BG were here earlier but they probably got fed-up as well, and it looks pretty bleak now. Seen the vicar recently Pete? No, haven't seen a pip of him Fussy, but I've heard a whisper that he's gunning for me so I've been lying low like you know! But mind you...I'm ready to pounce at any moment, as soon as he turns his back I will be doing the rounds in Pembrokeshire again. Well, for goodness sake Pete do your stuff in North Pembrokeshire OK! I'm off for some suppies now Pete, and then to the land of nod. Cheers Fussy Ditto Pete.
Ugh!!! Glad to get shot of him, I don't trust him atall. Ho! Ho!

Hi Fussy, I am feeling a bit better. Thanks for your concern. I am trying to get in here a bit more often. Problem is I have a lot of other things I want to do. I am trying to record old vinyl records onto my PC. It is not going to good as I keep getting problems where the PC cannot find enough volume from the record deck. Still i'll keep on trying. One day I may get it right.

I better find something to write about! I have now upgraded to AOL 9.0 (America On Line)...not the other AOL. So, everything has speeded up now. I was on AOL 8.0 before, and that was pretty good...but this upgrade is super-fast. I could have upgraded 6 or more months ago, but didn't bother as it seemed OK as it was, but it certainly is worth spending the time to change as it only took about 8 minutes as I'm on Broadband anyway. So folks,...I can only advise you all to accept any offer from these ISPs to upgrade...'cos it doesn't cost you a penny more.

Pauline, Seeing as this thread is things I like and don't like,...I don't like the fact that the titles are 'fogged' out, as we have to 'mouse' them to bring them to life. Ho! Ho! Ho! What a good excuse to add to our postings!

BG, There's a cheeky so and so 'M' is. Fancy him asking me if my glasses were steamed up. He's up and running now after getting rid of that bug,...so he must be feeling a lot better. That's why he's full of himself again. Still, as long as he's fit again, I'll take all his jokey jibes in my stride, and tell his wife about him...behind his back! Ho! Ho! Ho! LOL.

'M', I haven't really had a good squint through this new site yet, but what I've seen of it I'm not jumping up and down and screaming with delight. I think I preferred the old one, but in all fairness I might change my mind when I've browsed a bit more.

To be honest the only differences I can see is that the print and the icons look bigger than before and that everything that used to move now seems to be standing still(if you can see it moving BG maybe my computer`s on strike)oh,and the smilies are now on the same page so you don`t have to click on the smilie symbol any more.If anything else id different I haven`t noticed it yet

Things I liked...as a young lad during my schooldays in Cwmdare: I know I've posted some of this on here a couple of years ago, but some of you may not have seen it.
A small crowd of us kids used to gather in the square by the Ton pub on most evenings in the dark winter months. Popular games we used to play were, among others...'Slops,' where one of a gang of about a dozen would (upon the toss of a coin) be handed a thick rope with a knot at one end, to use as a weapon to whack us on the bottom and legs, unless of course you were fast enough to avoid being caught, by the 'slopper.' Another bit of fun was...'Jack Jack show the light.' Again, upon the toss of a coin, one of us would be given the torch and would set of on his run, while the rest of us faced the wall of the Ton pub and counted to 20. By this time Jack would be on his way down to the back lane of Bryn Tce and aiming for Broncynon Tce and going hell for leather towards Pwll Als...flashing his torch, and making his way up to Tom Beynon's farm and then heading for the lane behind the Cwmdare Infants school and back to the square again. When WE finally reached the square Jack was out of sight. Where did he go from there? Did he go back down the hill to Bryn Tce again,...or did he go up Queen St, and on to the 'Patches'? Or did he go down Dare Road or Bwllfa Rd? We would split up and try each direction. If he went down Dare Rd he would lead us a merry dance, 'cos he'd make his way to the railway and aim for the reservoir in the Bwllfa, and then double back along Bwllfa Rd again. By this time we would be shattered and would 'jack it in' as soon as we got back to the square. But what fun we had, and not an inkling of anything criminal involved. Another pastime we had in those days was to set off down to Dare Inn, and make our way up to Penrhiwllech, and on to the Darren mountain, and pick a spot to make a little safe. We'd cut a 6" square clod in the grass about 1" thick...scoop out about 8 inches deep of earth and line the inside with stones, place some twigs across about 1" down from the top,...place some little personal thing (a badge) in the hole and lay the clod of grass neatly on top. What excitement! We now had a secret safe way up on the Darren mountain. We would then go up there again in about a month's time to see if anyone had discovered our SECRET safe. What a thrill when we found no-one had tampered with our masterpiece. Ho! Ho! Ho! There was a barber's shop in the square in those days,...before it became a newsagents. Johnny Lewis the Barber. I used to go there for a short back and sides, and....wait for it, a 'singe' as well. It was supposed to restrict the growth of the hair, so that you didn't have to go too often. LOL.
Suppies ready, so must go. Will continue tomorrow.

That sounds a great childhood you had Fussy. The kids today don't use their imagination to play do they? We used to make a shop in my Mums shed and stones, mud, leaves and allsorts would be our stock. One of my friends then would set up a tent the other side of the garden and that would be the house. We made great mud pies lol
A "singe" what they really burnt your hair!!!??? Strange?

Hey Fussy, Your stirring up the emotions again. We used to go up the Darran very often and build tree houses, and build dams across the Dare river. The barbers all used to "Singe" the mens hair. On a Saturday morning when they were busy the shop smelt of burning hair. They used to say it made the hair stronger.

It is a shame the youngsters of today cannot have the freedom we use to have ,we use to roam up the mountains and down to the river to build dams . It is sad that parents are afraid to let their children out of there sight as there seems to be danger everywhere now . I can remember we use to use my grandmothers old mangle as a post office ,and my mother use to make stamps for us out of sheets of paper machined up and down on her sowing machine to make holes so they were perferated and we could tear them off like real stamps .We had very few toys in the years just after the war so we had to make our own entertainment .I think kids today get far too many toys .

You are so right BG,...kids today are spoilt beyond all means. And it is so unnecessary, because you can still bring a lot of excitement and enjoyment to a child,... by limited spending. One of our grandsons got an electronic gadget this last Xmas, a hand held thing...it was £70, but it would have been far better if he had 3 or 4 gifts of lesser value. But kids now tend to pull a face, if they can't have something costing an outrageous price.

Here we go again! I know I've posted these memories of mine on here before, but I don't think that Princess Di would have seen them. Then again, I'm not sure whether she is familiar with Cwmdare. Are you an Aberdarian Di?
Anyway, back in the 20s/30s us boys used to sneak over the hedge of one of Tom Beynon's fields (farm) in the dark, and snatch a large amount of holly, and run like hell with it along the path behind the Cwmdare Infants school. Then share it out among all our neighbours in Bryn Tce. Ho! Ho! Ho! My father was a carpenter and during WWII he was called upon to work on repairing bombed buildings in Cardiff. Well, when I came home from the Far East after the end of the war, one of my older brothers told me the tale of the brolly,...amidst howls of laughter. Apparently, my father hated carrying a brolly, but when the weather was really bad my mother used to insist he took a brolly with him to Cardiff as he had to walk down the hill from Bryn Tce in the early morning, in the dark and pouring rain. But as soon as Dad reached the hedge half-way down to where the Tech is now,...he would stick the brolly in the hedge upside down, and carry on his way to cardiff. Then he would pick it up again on his way home from work in the evening. He did this for months, and YES, it was always there exactly where he had left it. It was never nicked! Ho! Ho! Ho! Would one be so fortunate today I wonder? As I've mentioned before, I was born in 42 Btyn Tce,...right opposite Harrisonville...the home of Phyllis and Marion Harrison,...Marion eventually became Lady Marion Ff Williams. I have vivid memories of the visit of the Bwllfa hounds and huntsmen to the field alongside the house every Boxing Day morning, and Mrs.Harrison popping out with a trayful of wineglasses and bottles of wine, and a merry time was had by all for about 30 minutes. One of the huntsmen was one of the Reynolds family, Bwllfa Tce. (Any recollections of that name 'M'?) In the 20s/30s if us kids lost our ball or couldn't afford to buy another one,...the solution to the problem would be quite simple. We would gather about 20 brown paper bags and roll them into the shape of a ball and tie the thing up with loads of string,...and then kick the hell out of it against a pine-end wall nearby. It used to last quite a while. LOL. Christmas presents were at a premium in the 20s. You could count yourself lucky if you had an apple and an orange, and DEAD lucky if you had a Cadbury's Selection Box 2/6. Again in the 30s, there was a lovely fish and chip shop at the bottom end of Howell's Row (Queen St.) run by Alby John. I regularly popped in there for a fish and two...a lovely piece of hake and 2 pennyworth of chips,..enough to fill a large dinner plate folks! The Cwmdare Welfare Hall was buzzing in those days. Don't tell a soul,...I used to sneak in there after school for a game of snooker, 3pence for 30 minutes, and I was only 13 at the time, but nobody squawked. Ho! Ho! Every Autumn the welfare held a Drama competition, competitors from around Wales would compete each night, and the winner would be decided on the Saturday the final night. I remember that Blackwood were frequent winners, and were recognised as the best in Wales. On Guy Fawkes night, apart from our own fun with fireworks, we used to nip over to the Welfare Hall tennis courts and watch the bonfire that was burning away on the mountain above Abernant, we had a good view from there.
There's more,...but I'll dish it out...later.

Hello! Pete, fancy meeting you again,...and what have you been up to eh? I haven't been up to anything Fussy, the weather has been so chilly I've been lucky to have found a nice little old ramshackle of a house in Solva. Nobody's lived there for centuries, so it's a good place for me to hide from those 2 vicars. They won't suspect me to be in Solva of all places,...'cos my usual haunts have been around the Saundersfoot and Tenby area. 'Ow're iw then Fussy? Not too bad like you know. But this cold virus has left me feeling tired mun! My better-half also feels tired. I wonder if my other friends on this site have also had this tiredness after the bout of bronchitis? Well Pete, it's nearly 10 o'clock, and time for suppies, so I'll leave you to your ramshackle, and I hope you stay there for ever. Ho! Ho! Ho! You'll be safe there from the vicars mun.
I hope he rots there!
