Gemini, when you go to the reply form you should see a row of little grey squares along the top entitled Format, these are for various different things you can add to your messages, such as bold text, italics, underlining, photos. etc.
If you click on the end one with a little smiley face on it you should get a page of different smileys pop up, then you just click on the one you want to add.
It doesn't always work mind, sometimes the page seems to open up BEHIND this one so you can't see it ! That's a kink I don't quite understand myself yet !

when you go to post a message and open the message box you will see lots of little boxes shadowed in grey at the top under the print size and styles boxes.
One box at the right hand side has a smiley face - click it and a box will pop up with a load of faces to choose from. Click on the one you want and close the window.The smiley will turn up on your message sort of like this (:D) bracket with the typed version inside.
Hey presto!

There must be something wrong with my computer ,as when I press on the smiley face I get nothing at all, it is the same when I click on Profil.
Do you think it may be because I have some system on the computer to stop cookies ???
I have to go through the FAQ to get to see the smiley faces .

BG, you can get your pc to allow cookies on this site (i'm assuming youuse internet explorer?)
if you go to tools-internet options-privacy you should see a bit at the bottom marked 'web sites' if you click on the 'edit' button there you can add this site in & it will aloow cookies to work. I hope that has made any sense! it is late...

Well as I've never seen you ML I'll just have to take Moonraker's word for how well you look ! But I must say that it's amazing that a woman of such advanced years should be so good at using a computer. I don't really know how you manage it, what with the ear-trumpet in one hand, the inhaler in another AND holding on to your Zimmer-frame with the other two ! LOL+<|:-D
Oh, I forgot to mention, the 'flaming-folder' means that it's a 'Hot Topic', ie, it's got over a certain number of replies.

Clueless my Stannah Stairlift packed in this morning.Also the leg on my zimmer is wonky and the one on my commode I use as a computer chair - one of those days I guess.
Hope I dont get a spider in my ear trumpet you will hear me screaming from where you are alright!

We can do all the smiley faces because I have copied them all out on a piece of paper .But on the page we type our reply on , where the format line is we cannot get them to come up if we click on the smiley face . Neither can we get into profil or Private message when we click on them the page flashes up then disappears .Tried all sorts of things to try and sort it out ,it seems it is something to do with the cookies enabler ???????? .I messed about with it yesterday and lost access to all my favourites file .MR was not happy he had to sort it out when he came home .
Not being able to get into the things mentioned above is no great problem just as long as we can still post on here .

BG, I don't know why it happens, but sometimes these pages pop up BEHIND the main page instead of on top, have you tried dragging this page down to have a look behind it ? They MIGHT just be lurking there out of sight !
Or try right-clicking on profile, or private message or whatever you're trying to reach, then clicking on 'open in a new window'. That might not work either, but it's worth a try. If anyone HAS sent you a private message you'll never know otherwise.

Me give a speech on stage , no never I'd be tongue tied .
I think on here we let our hair down a bit as the people can't see us , going to the get togethers is quite an ordeal for me. Although all the people I met last time soon made me feel relaxed , a great bunch .Such a shame you and Liz cannot come to one .

Yes, we would love to make it to the get-together. Liz keeps bringing it up quite often,...but there are too many niggling little problems involved.
Since I had an op' in 1991, It is most difficult for me to stay overnight anywhere, should I have a minor problem, which thankfully, rarely happens,....but you know what it's like....As sure as eggs are eggs, if I ventured away trust me to be out of luck. It's not a serious problem atall,...it's just damn inconvenient. Then, we are reluctant to leave our pets overnight.
So all in all it's a bit of a snag.
Never mind,...one day we might figure out some way of making it to one of our get-togethers.

On the last count before AOL went down there were 7 definites coming .But have not heard anything from a couple of them since.
Looks like Welshgirl MR and myself will be propping the bar up on our own.I think LHW and Mindy did say on here that they were coming,have not heard from Rob51166 for ages.
