There you are Somebody, Beacon Girl is an absolutely stunning lady, and she's dying to read a few words from you. As I said before, we are a lot of nosey-parkers on here, so hurry up and tell us where you from. We not sleep, when we not sure if you are Somebody we already familiar with. Ho! Ho! Ho! |

Ooooooo! Don't worry BG,...I don't think Somebody is really hurt when you said you thought he might be a turkey, or an old bird.
He doesn't seem to have been offended when I suggested he might have been a relative of Spock, anyway. But of course, he might dish my punishment out in due course. So, who knows, I might be in for a mouthful any time now. |

YABBA DABBA DOO!
Somebody IS alive and kicking. He gave you a mild ticking-off BG, and now he's threatened me with the VULCAN DEATH GRIP. Looks as if my days are numbered. I'm shuddering in my boots!
I haven't got long to go anyway, let alone being shoved in the back by Somebody. Ho! Ho! Ho! Perhaps he doesn't mean it.

A lady drove up to town on a shopping expedition. The only parking space she could see was very small but she decided to have a go. As she manoeuvred her Toyota carefully, she noticed two policemen watching her. After a few anxious moments, and much to her surprise, she managed to get her car into the parking space. As she was about to insert a coin into the parking meter, one of the policemen walked over and said, 'Allow me madam. 'He pulled a coin from his pocket and dropped it into the meter. Then he turned to the lady and said, 'me and my mate had a little bet. I lost.' |

That's right, but it was Moonraker who was really the rake, wasn't it BG? har har har..
Hello, Somebody. Welcome. We're very civil on here. ^_^ Friendly too.
> GOING back to June: HI PAULINE!!!!!!!!! Didn't see you there, due to my erratic appearances..
Now Fussy, didn't I tell you that I don't drive anymore?? [going back to way earlier message... Kat is marvy, and Raine won't drive either. Boyo can't wait, although he would rather buy a new guitar than sign up for his learner's]. Kat is about to start college for Hotel Mgmt, Raine is unfortunately going through a depression, but fortunately being treated, Boyo has finished first two years of high school. He's almost 16, 2 more years to go. Hubby and I have been trying to renovate the bathroom, but Murphy got there first [ Murphy's law= if it can go wrong, it will]. Everyone who was going to 'help' got busy or something. The people we paid to help didn't do it right or didn't finish or something, because we were trying to coordinate several different parts of the job: take down the wood panelling, replace drywall, add bath surround, replace toilet, sink, and flooring. I am at war. I am running out of ammo. On the upside: my toilet no longer runs on, and it is an economical flusher, and the room is much brighter without the wood; the flooring looks great and is easy to clean.. we are down to baths only, as shower is in enemy camp. The ceiling piece didn't go in right, so the edges don't properly reach the walls... *sigh* SEE HOW MUCH I'M LEARNING ABOUT DIY????? Soon I will be expert.
Maybe hubby is going to get 6 more wives. They can do the cleaning and shopping. I'll take care of the Boss. Have NOT sold a bazillion copies yet -haven't even got the first one through the first edit! Terrible waste of good literature. Or something like it! :D I keep chipping away at the Welsh 50s romance, still no set title yet.. I keep thinking of something cheesy like Yes to Iestyn.. did anyone lose their lunch? No? So that's still a possibility. It's all between the village lad or the shepherd you see.. the shepherd is fit...hehehe.. they both rescue the girl in different ways, so she is very conflicted about the whole thing. And both men have VERY nice mothers... that's important, don't you think? But I have lately been doing more reading than writing.. Have been very busy trying to read the entire New Testament and a fair portion of the Old. Having a wee revival in Cobourg. It has started with me! Yay! And Kat. Yay yay! We're at 2 and counting.. anyone else want in? Open to all... |

Oooooh! That's a mighty screed you've planted on here crazynance. I couldn't compete with that lot 'cos my damn broadband connection wouldn't last long enough before killing me off. I don't remember you saying you don't drive anymore. I thought you said something about getting your licence back again??? Still, it might very well be my D of B that befuddles my brain, - oh yeah - I have got a brain but it hasn't got a very reliable memory section.
Glad to hear Kat is enjoying herself speeding along the highways. Sorry that Raine is feeling down. Give her a big hug from Fussy, and go get a wineglass....quick. Hold it steady now while I pour a double Baileys,...blwb, blwb, blwb, blwb, blwb, blwb, blwb, blwb. Now hand it to Raine and tell her to sip it slowwwwwwwwwwwwly. That should bring a nice big smile to her beautiful face. I'm spoiling her, aren't I. I must go now, in case all this typing was in vain.... Damn broadband. Ho! Ho! Ho! |

Good grief, what next! Just been told by a young student passing our front gate on Friday afternoon. I happened to pass the time of day with him, but he was in a hurry and explained to me that it was POETS day, which apparently means......'P*** Off Early, Tomorrow's Saturday.'
Ho! Ho! Ho! I don't remember students being rude like that in my young days!

Hi Crazynance
It sounds like you have been busy with the DIY jobs ,it is surprising what we can acheive if we have a go our selves ,it saves a fortune in labour charges.
Sorry to hear that Raine is not too well ,I wish her a speedy recovery.
You are right it was Moonraker that was the rake in the Mag7 .What a laugh all that nonsense was ,it clocked up a good few postings and kept us all entertained for a while.

I think foxy chick has it all posted online somewhere. I tried to keep it on my 2cuk site, but they shut everyone down and I lost all my photos etc. Oh well.
Fussy, you're right, I was trying to get my license [now we know who REALLY has issues!and she's Canadian!] haha The problem is, I don't WANT to drive. *sigh*
My friend came over and gave me a few ideas on how to finish up the bathroom, so I may have a functional shower by Christmas. |

I need a longer dip-stick. Why's that, madam? The one I've got won't reach the oil.
A policeman was writing out a traffic ticket for a motorist he had stopped for speeding. The woman sitting in the passenger seat suddenly said, ' There you are! Didn't I tell you you were going too fast? You're the worst driver in the world! It's a wonder you haven't had a serious accident. Serves you right - I hope they give you a hefty fine, you no-good worthless lump!. Is this lady your wife, sir? asked the policeman. Yes, said the motorist miserably. Drive on, sir, said the policeman, putting away his notebook, and may the Lord have mercy on you.
I've got a little Volvo myself. Two more payments and I'll be able to drive it in the daytime.

Oooooh! Congrats' on becoming a Great Aunty. That means you have a lot more 'spoiling' to do from now on. Innit funny,...to be called a Great Aunty. I feel as though I'm getting on a bit when I realise from time to time that I've got 7 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, and another one on the way. I can just see them in the future,...scanning the Family History on their computers looking for records of that Great Grandfather, and finding out that one of his favourite pastimes was,...sipping a few tots of Baileys now and again. Well, this is the first really hot day we've experienced these last couple of months. Mind, I prefer it a little bit cooler myself, but as long as it doesn't get hotter I'll cope. Good grief, another week and we are into August. Doesn't time fly these days! Back in the old days, before TV, a single day seemed twice as long as it is these days. You felt as if you really had lived a full 24 hours. Wish I was 21 again, aye! |

Hey Bob,...I bet you had a chuckle at one or two of the postings laid on here these last ten months, eh! That Fal individual reminds me of a few notes in a song many many years ago. I'm sure part of the song had something like...fal-de-lal in it. Perhaps Pauline will remember it???
Oh, yeah! That Somebody geezer/geezeress is quaint. I don't quite know what it is, but somehow he/she strikes a bell, and makes me feel I know he or she...from a distance like! Ho! Ho! Ho! Makes me feel he/she has been around here before, but wearing a change of clothing like. |

Bob It is strange that people join the site and put the odd posting then vanish ,maybe they think "Paulines Parlour "is a chat up site or something like that !!!!! |

Yes, it's been a bit better here since yesterday. Still not as hot as you seem to be having it, but certainly warmer than it's been for a while. And that damned wind has stopped which is a blessing I really HATE the wind (Inside AND out ! LOL )
It's amazing to me how many people sign on to this site and then never blooming-well post anything, I honestly don't know why they bother as they can read the posts (except the private ones, only the most privileged are allowed to read those. LOL) without bothering to sign up.
When I first came back online after my 'sojourn in the wilderness' there were over two dozen new members awaiting approval. Most of them had expired because I'd been away from the site for so long, but even the ones I DO approve hardly ever post, so as I said, why do they bother to sign up ? WAZZOCKS !
Just noticed crazynance's post up above. Don't worry Nance, I'm very easily missed, what with me being only 5ft 6ins tall, with a 38DD chest, dressed in bright red from head to foot and covered in a permanent layer of Dog-hairs. Anyone would have trouble spotting me. LOL |

Ho! Ho! Ho! Well done Pauline,...you couldn't have picked a better number,...Home on the Range. By jingo, that takes me right back to the 30s. I can see me now, me and Ken James (Anita's cousin) sitting in the stalls in the Aberdare Cinema lapping up all the cowboy pic's. Ooooooh! They were the days folks. I'd give up my Baileys to go back to those great days. |

I love that song "Home on the Range ,it reminds me of my dad he was always singing it.
What is wrong with the site today !!!! I have been trying all morning to get in here. We must have worn it out yesterday as we must have posted about 40 messages between us all, that is good going for just a few of us . |

Yeah, you are right BG. Yesterday was the best day's posting for about 9 months. It's been good to have Larry back. But as I've said before, as long as each of us keep in touch, and pop in here now and again it will keep the old site alive. I don't think any of us are expected to sit at a computer all day and every day.
Phew! Bloomin' hot again today innit, but there's rain due off and on for the rest of the week. Hope it stays dry for the week you are spending in Weymouth.

By the Lord Harry !!! (As Old Boot used to say in The Perishers cartoon strip) it certainly was a busy day on here yesterday wasn't it Fussy, Larry and BG, your fingers must be worn out from all that typing
Well I think that hot weather you've been going on about has reached here at last, today has been the hottest since goodness knows when. Pity it had to wait until today though as I'm trying to clear the place up because I bought some bedroom furniture on eBay and I want to try and clear some space before it's delivered, but it's so hot in the room today that it's wearing me out
Now you're probably all thinking "She must be bonkers. Why is she buying more furniture when she's already complaining that the place is so cluttered that she can't move ?" (LOL ) But it's not as bad as it sounds, because the chap I'm buying it from sells stuff on behalf of other people, and he's agreed to sell some of my unwanted stuff. So when the van comes to deliver what I've bought it will go back loaded with all the stuff that I want to get rid of (and hopefully once it arrives I'll be able to put a lot more clothes etc. away because the stuff I've bought is a more useful shape re. large drawers etc. than the stuff I'm getting rid of )
Anyway, I'm off to have another go at shifting stuff now, I also need to dismantle the bed that's currently in the room (I'm not getting rid of that, it was my Grandfather's and HE bought it from the people who previously lived in his house, and THEY inherited it from her parents who apparently brought it back from America, so it's a genuine antique as well as having sentimental value. But it's badly in need of restoration, so once it's dismantled I'll try to contact the chap in Tenby who restores old furniture, and eventually it can go back into the other bedroom )
Back later tonight if I survive |

Oh-oh, looks as if I spoke too soon about the weather ! As of about twenty minutes ago it's been ****ing down again It's still flaming hot in the bedroom though, it's always hotter up there in the Summer (and colder in the Winter) it's probably because there's not very much above it, what with the horrible sloping ceilings and hardly any loft space between you and the sky.
Ooh, while I've been sitting here a bird has perched on the wires outside and I'm almost sure it's a Cuckoo ! I can't be 100% certain as it's not near enough and I don't want to get too close to the window incase I scare it off, but it definitely looks like a Cuckoo to me. They are still around in July aren't they ? If I remember the old rhyme correctly it says
The Cuckoo comes in April She sings her song in May She changes her tune In the month of June And July she flies away
so if this really is a Cuckoo she's probably resting here on her way back to wherever it is they go |

Oh heck, I think I just heard a rumble of Thunder in the distance. If Sophie wakes up and hears that she'll go berserk
The bird is still up there on the wire though, giving her feathers a good old going over. I'm 99.99% sure it IS a Cuckoo |

Well, I've just scanned your postings quickly Pauline. By jingo you've been busy. It's teeming hot here, and thunder and lightning and pouring rain. I don't trust the lightning so I disconnected the computer from the mains about an hour ago. I switched back on a few minutes ago, but now the lightning is back again, so I'm not taking any chances, so here goes...I'm switching off again. |

Pauline You are a busy little bee having a good sort out of your furniture ,hope it is all ok when it comes and you can fit all your stuff into it .You picked a fine time to do it in all this hot sticky weather.I notice you mentioned on another thread that when you went to the hospital for your last check up you had a look at some kitchen and bathroom show rooms are you going to have them done as well .You are going to have a big job on your hands if you do as you will have to shift a lot of stuff about ,don't go over doing it and making yourself ill.
Like down with you the weather here has now turned thundery and we keep getting heavy down pour of rain, lets hope it cools things down a bit so we can get a good nights sleep .

Fussy I'm sorry to say that I do not remember that song .I think it must have been popular when I was just a little nipper and I was still into singing Nursery Rhymes. |

Yeah, come to think of it, perhaps it would have been out of your reach BG. But I think it was still being pushed on the radio in the 50s/60s. I wonder if Pauline remembers it? |

| I remember the title, I know I've heard it somewhere, but I don't think I remember the tune. I've got a lot of old 78's here somewhere in the middle of all the conglomeration in the conservatory, maybe it's on one of them. Some of them were mine when I was a child, but most of them were my Mother's and my Grandfathers. Among other things there's a complete set of 'The Maid of the Mountain' in there if they haven't got broken (or melted in the heat-- it gets VERY hot in there when the sun DOES come out). I'll have to have a shufties through them one day and see if they're still playable. |

Right then, I've checked back a 'few' years and can tell you that...Amapola was sung by Deanna Durbin in her film 'First Love' in 1939. It was very popular through the war years and it was still played a lot well into the 50s. So you should have heard it when you were a young lass BG....If you heard it sung now I bet you'd say 'Oh yes I remember it now.' And you too Pauline, would also say 'Oh yes of course I remember the bloomin' thing now that I hear it sung by Deanna.' |

Ah well, there you are then, if Deanna Durbin sang it I must have heard it because I've got quite a few LP's of hers. I haven't been able to play them for a long time though as my music centre isn't working, I can only listen to tapes or CDs these days.
Was Robert Stack in 'First Love' with her ? |

Yeah, it was a very popular number played well into the 50s by Henry Hall's Band and others. And, Yep! Robert Stack was her co-star in First Love. Think I saw that in The Rex??? |

Well,...I don't know whether I'm imagining things, but this site is responding almost instantly these last few days. Have you been working on it Pauline? It definitely hasn't responded as sharply as this before. Been spicing it up have you,...or giving it a few lumps of sugar. Don't know when was the last time I saw lump sugar. Is it still on the market? |

No fear! Fussy's pussycat wouldn't hurt a fly, let alone a mouse. She's a softie, and I don't think she'd be able to find her way to Swindon, so BG's mouse is safe.
BTW, has anyone else noticed a difference in the speed and response of this site these last few days? |

Yes I noticed you said it was pretty fast, and that your mouse was out of breath BG, but but but, I spoke too soon didn't I, because my broadband didn't bloomin' connect today until ten minutes ago. It was 100% yesterday and Friday, now it's got a touch of influenza again, and something wrong with it's brain as well. So, you can guess,...Fussy is tamping mad. |

Aah the poor thing hope they can fix his leg. Lucky it was'nt a horse or he'd have been for the knackers yard I love horses and it upsets me when a racehorse breaks a leg and they shoot it and in most cases there's no need for it you know, it IS possible to fix a broken leg in a horse, but because it's a long process and costs a lot of dosh most of the bloody owners just get rid of them so they can get thei nsurance and cut their losses |

Ooooooh! That's upset me now,...I hate to see a defenceless animal suffer in any way. There was an RSPCA item on the BBC news one day last week about the increased cruelty to animals. Well, if I was chosen to dish out the punishment for this cruelty, the people responsible would regret it to their dying day, I promise you! The cruelty was so bad in some cases, I just couldn't print it on here.

I too have a great affection for horses Larry. I don't think that the average man in the street realises what a magnificent creature the horse is....So obedient, hard working, a wonderful animal, and what would the world do without them....Man's slave, eh Larry!
And to think that thousands died in the Pussian theatre in WW2, and in other countries as well. A sickening thought. |

I didn't know that the church in Spain approves the killing of those bulls. In that case, I'd be chuffed to my eyebrows, to have the churchmen and the toreadors hung upside down by their ankles till they 'snuffed it.' That tells you how fierce I can be, dealing with those vile morons illtreating defenceless animals. How's about that Bob! Think I'm a good guy??? |
