Glad you liked the Baileys. No, I don't think a few tots will do you any harm, as long \as you sip it slowwwwwwwwly. Ho! Ho!

We watched the 'who do you think you are' programme too. All about slavery and a lot of 'poor dabs' of that wicked era. We've got a lot to answer for, haven't we! We've been very, very naughty...back in history.

Oooooh, the little arrow from my mouse is flickering like mad on here tonight. Looks very nervous.

Tell M, that I thought The 'taffs' gave Russia a bit of a fright last night. I expected the Russians to have slaughtered the weakened Welsh team.

Yeah, it's very, very quiet, innit Bob. I was crying this afternoon 'cos I was lonely.
But I'm glad I'm not one of XLs customers - on holiday abroad somewhere - 'cos I wouldn't have enough money to pay another airline to come home,...and I can't swim!

I've got a good tip for the boys on here. It's a footwear tip. I've just received - through the post - my pair of Hush Puppies shoes. I've been wearing Hush Puppies since 1965, or thereabouts, and I can promise you boys, they are the best. They are featherlight and the most comfortable shoe you can possibly have.
They were originally invented in the US in 1957, and believe you me, they are super-duper, and you can walk for miles without feeling unduly stressed, like you would wearing the average standard shoe.
Try them out next time boys!

I've been pumping Baileys for years, and now I'm pumping Hush Puppies.

I reckon I should get commission for all this advertising.
What say you?

Great shoes Hush Puppies "M" has had a pair of those for years they seem to last for ever, time they went in the bin but he will not part with them.
You should definitley get commission for all the advertising you do ,but then you would only spend it on more Baileys.

Bob what ever will you do if they shut down all the Pubs

I can see you will have to start up your own brewery.LOL

Must go now and get on with the decorating.

You don't really need the pub Bob. If you can't brew it in your cellar, just nip to Tesco and top up with a couple of cartons of bitter mun...But then you'd miss the old pub gossip, wouldn't you.
And as a lot of nattering goes on in the pub, it's the nattering that eggs a person to have another pint, and another pint, and another pint, and annnnothhhher pint, annnnd aaaannnnothhhherrrrr pppppinnnnnt, annnnd aaaannnnnnnnnthhhherrrrrrr ppppintttt till he's so groggy he's forgotten his own name.
Ho! Ho! Ho!

BG,
Nice to know that my M8 M is a Hush Puppies man. They are a super shoe.
If I get any monies from their company for boosting up their sales, I'll split it 50/50 with M.

Dead quiet on here.
Bet you've been enjoying the sunshine, eh! Except BG,...poor BG has been decorating.

I've got a very nervy 'mouse' on here,...the little arrow is vibrating like as if he is off his rocker, but I notice, it only when happens when I'm on here.
I expect that bloomin' Polty is back on his rounds again.
Anybody else got a nervous mouse?

Oh, hell....Larry, my broadband has been off all afternoon,...since half past one.
So, you can guess...I'm tamping b****y mad. It's only just come back a few minutes ago. The excuse from them was that a plug was disconnected because of State Training,...whatever that is?
You say you had trouble getting on here today,...well I think it must be short of petrol or something. Sometimes it's OK, then the next minute and it's up to it's tricks again. Polty perhaps???

We are just plodding along slowly ,daughter came over and gave us a hand yesterday to move the furniture about , we have about 10 tea or coffee breaks a day thats why we are so slow doing it ,plus as a result we spend quite a lot of time in the Loo .

We will get there in the end not a great deal more to do now ,off next week to pick some new carpets M says they will have to last forever because we ain't having any more .

Well, I can see,...you're in the middle of a makeover, rather you than me, but we have also got a bit of tidying up to do, but it won't be before next spring.
We've been trimming the overgrowth in the garden these last few days, because the rain had ruined the general appearance anyway. It looks much better now, and the Dahlias are still in good fettle and will probably last through to about Xmas time,...they usually do each year.

I agree with M,...make the carpets last for ever.

And he played his ukelele as the ship went down.

I remember the above tune from when I was about 5 years old, but I don't remember the words of the first 3 lines. The 4th line must have really left it's mark on my young brain.
Ho! Ho! Ho! Must have struck me as being very odd,...someone playing an instrument as his ship was sinking.

Hello, hello! The Music Man...welcome to this fabulous forum.
You've made my day! Brilliant! You've jogged my aged memory, Yo Ho me lads Yo Ho (sounds more like Jo ho Jo ho) Wonderful memories of my boyhood days.
I'm quite chuffed, 'cos I'd completely forgotten the main stuff.
All I could recall was...'And he played his ukelele as the ship went down.'
Ho! Ho! Ho! Cheers M8.

Is that about me now that's a debatable question Beacon Girl, I would't say I come from all that far away, but then, it all depends on where everyone else is from. As for I can play, wee-ell, I ejoy picking at a few different instruments and in my own mind I'm bloody marvellous, but my next door neighbours might not agree , especially when I play my trumpet at 7 in the morning FOFL But the things I'm best at playing are records

Glad to be of service Fussy, if there's anything else you remember let me know and I'll try to find it for you

Hi Music Man,
You say you don't come from very far away,...away from where?
I'm from Aberdare, so how far away from there would you say you are?
If you happened to be a native of Cwmdare - the super little village where I was born, - then I would invite you to my home for a big nosh-up, followed by tot after tot, of the good old Baileys Irish Cream Whiskey.
BTW, my favourite music is the popular, and light classical type, especially when played by Richard Clayderman. I've got most of his CDs.

Music Man
I am so glad I do not live next door to you if you play your trumpet early in the morning
It is bad enough here when the young lad next door blasts out his heavy metal music in the evening.

I like music but my choice is the music of the 50's and 60's.Rock and Roll ,wish I could still dance to the music but my poor old joints will not cooperate with my still young brain.LOL

Sorry about that Fussy, you're quite right, I did post something on the 17th, but the link in the message wouldn't work properly, so I took it off again meaning to re-do it later, but then one of the pieces of furniture I'd bought on ebay was delivered, and because of the stuff in the living room waiting to go upstairs we couldn't get it in, so the driver had to leave it in the hall which meant I couldn't shut the front door ! So after he'd gone I then had to spend a few hours pushing the other furniture around until I made enough space to get the new item in, and by the time I'd finished doing that I was so k*******d that I fell asleep on the settee (and woke up starving as in all the hassle I'd forgotten to eat anything) And I've got to carry on moving stuff around because I've got a couple more items arriving on Sunday (yes, I HAVE gone a bit berserk on ebay lately ) but hopefully when it's all done it's going to look really great here. I'e bought new wallpaper as well, plus a new carpet to replace the one that was spoiled when I got flooded. These are a couple of photos of the item that was delivered on Wednesday :-

Oooooh! I like that unit, Pauline, looks a very neat piece of furniture. And ideal for scribbling a letter, and housing a laptop.
Sounds like you are having a makeover as well, eh! Can't see you ending up in the Newport Pemb's area now, 'cos you seem to have decided to smarten up your castle and stay put.
Are you doing the papering yourself? The charges for that type of work have gone up sky high in recent years....Reminds me of a little lady (Mrs Blake) who lived in King St,...she used to do all the papering for us in Bryn Tce, and I have a vague recollection that she used to charge something like half a crown per room, and it was something daft for the hall and landing,...5 shillings, or something in that region.
Ho! Ho! Ho! Haven't times changed,..Yabba Dabba Doo!

Good grief! I read in the press yesterday that there are many new words to be added to the new edition of the English dictionary.
One of them is...Phwoar.
Many more have been created by the youngsters of today, and some of them are rather foul. I haven't got the paper with me at the moment.
I'll post them on here tomorrow.

That is a lovely desk ,I am dead jealous it puts my tatty argos desk to shame.
You are busy at the moment with all the decorating you are planning to do,must be something in the air at the moment as a few people I know are painting and papering ,it is usually something we do in the spring time. But then the weather is so weird we do not know what time of year it is.
The past few days it has been really lovely warm weather like an Indian summer hope it lasts a while.

I'm looking forward to seeing the new words that are going into the English dictionary.
It will be great to know the meanings of some of them as when I hear my 15 year old grandson talking to his friends I have not got a clue what they are on about.

Don't think M will agree to that took me long enough to get him to agree to new carpets.

Well, I've just been peeping at The One Show. on BBC1 at the moment.
Good grief! I knew there were mites in our bed mattresses and sheets, but I had no idea of the quantity of the perishers. Apparently there are millions upon millions of the things in your pillow alone.
They put a kind of Hoover on the pillow and it is unbelievable how many are scuttling about inside
One of the chaps handed a pillow to another chap and told him to hold his arm out straight to balance the thing, and the pillow fell down each side of his arm through the weight and amount of mites and mite faeces. The mites are so tiny that hundreds can settle on a pin head.
And also...bed bugs are a menace.
Sorry folks...not a nice subject to shove on here, but facts are facts.
Ho! Ho! Ho!....Funny old world, innit.

I've got a nice job on tomorrow. I'm going to Cuprinol the gate and fencing around the garden. It will be ready for the winter ahead then.
Also, got a few other odd jobs to do, clearing the guttering. No,...not the roof guttering,...the guttering of the low outer extension, and tidy up in general.
BTW, the flowers have had a second life BG, they've perked up again after this latest bit of sunshine, they look great.

Bed bugs !!!!! oh my goodness I won't be able to sleep tonight ,if I do I'm sure I will have nightmares.
Will change all bedding tomorrow and give bed a good hoovering.

Yes fussy the gardens have perked up a bit with this warm weather.
I was out there today planting winter flowering violas in all my tubs ,I do like a bit of colour in the winter.

Good luck with painting the fence and gate hope it stays sunny for you to get it all done ,that is a job I hate .
Must go now of to watch our usual Wednesday night program.

Yeah, we watched the ancestry programme too, wasn't she a nice person, she seemed to be very grateful to everyone for their trouble.

Yes, frightening facts about bed mites, eh! But, let's be fair, nobody can possibly be free of those things, unless you leave the hoover on while you are asleep...24/7 Ho! Ho! Ho! Ho! Ho! Ho!

Yep,...the flowers are in full bloom again, but, but, but...I read in the paper today...make the best of September, because October is going to be nothing but rain and gale force winds, and generally stormy throughout.

Pauline that desk is gorgeous! I bought one that is a multi-level space age sort of thing. I'll have to take a pic and load it up for you.
Fussy: Phwoar is roughly equivalent to a wolf whistle. Whereas powned or owned refers to beating the stuffing out of someone in a computer game. *nods sagely* "I has da knowledges...^_^ " fofl..

We have just had our entire summer smooshed into the last 10 days. It has been beautifully sunny, sometimes tending to be a bit brisk. Nights are down to about 50-60 degrees F. Days up to 75! Hard to judge what to wear... but I find clothes are usually the best option!! hahahhahahha..

Missed you all! Love: Crazynance

My you got that painting done quick can't wait till i'm in my eighties . If you are anything to go by I should get faster doing all the odd jobs than I am now.

You should take up knitting it is a very relaxing hobby,I remember years ago a friends dad use to knit all his childrens cardigans and jumpers.

They look like foreign words to me and I can't even pronounce them.

Glad you all like my new desk (well. new second-hand anyway, LOL ) most of my furniture is in that style and colour, so it fits in very well. Sorry I'm not around much at the moment but I don't know whether I'm on my head or my heels lately, I've got more stuff coming soon and I'm really struggling trying to make room for it, I've managed to move some of the smaller items down the shed, but I'm going to need help with the larger items -- this is one of those rare times when I wish I'd got married -- at least then I'd have somebody with muscles to shift my furniture ! LOL

I've also had a few upsets which I haven't got time to tell you about now as I must get back to the grind as soon as I've drunk my tea, but I'll give you a full account as soon as I've got myself sorted out.

Before I get back to work I thought I'd post this link to a postcard of Ledbury that's for sale on ebay:- http://www.auctiva.com/hostedimages/showimage.aspx?gid=302936&ppid=1122&image=100087778&images=100087778,100087783&formats=0,0&format=0 I've got one of these myself but I can't show you that one as my scanner isn't connected at the moment, and the reason I'm showing it to you is because that lady in the yellow cardigan who's walking behind the woman and little girl on the left-hand side of the picture was Auntie Ede, my Grandfather's sister I've got another postcard with her on as well, she's closer to the camera in that one and when I get my scanner up and running again I'll post it on here so you can see it. She was very chuffed about being 'immortalised' on the cards, LOL She said she remembered a man taking photos but until the postcards turned up in the shops she thought he was just another tourist. Her Granddaughter is the one who lives down here, but I never see her. I know she's moved from Pembroke to Tenby as her mother told me, but as far as I'm concerned she might as well be living in Timbuktoo. You'd think she'd pop in now and then wouldn't you ? She's got a car and it wouldn't take her long to drive out here, but I haven't seen her since my Mother's funeral Who needs relatives eh

Well done Pauline, nice to know you are getting on with the makeover.
Keeps your mind occupied and not infested with the present financial downfall, the bickering politicians, the increased price of vegetables, washing powder, oranges, apples, bread, and the rest of the goods that have shot up,...and the soaring charges conjured up by the present day Vets!!!
So, keep on doing the odd jobs, and hurry up and get your scanner operating,...we can do with a few more piccies on here, like the ones of your posh looking desk. Ho! Ho!

Anyway, good to know you are able to do a good days work.

Hi crazynance,
Good to know you are all battling on,...under the Ontario flag!
Strange that you in that part of the universe are having a similar end of summer (?) like we are having at the present moment (yes, moment) it won't be for long, that's for sure. The forecast for the month of October is alarming. Heavy rain, gale force winds and thunderstorms. I expect you will have the usual glorious Autumn.
Yeah, Phwloar is a frightening word. Ho! Ho!
I'm just about to put a few more new words on here, so keep your eyes peeled on this thread.
Take care. Love to all.

Ho! Ho! Ho! I'v got a super duper message for our Bob. Here it is.

Lant...To add urine to ale, in order to make it stronger.
The English language has displayed an unreasoning fondness for using urine, both human and otherwise, for a dizzying array of purposes. The Oxford English Dictionary also lists such delightful words and terms as an all-flower-water (cow urine, used as an unspecified remedy), puppy-water (the urine of a young dog, used as a cosmetic), and the ever popular lotium (stale urine used by barbers.

Levament. The comfort which one hath of his wife.
Natiform. Buttock-shaped. (an obsolete medical term).
Ruffing. The stomping of feet as a form of applause.
Oxyphonia. Excessive shrillness of voice.
Tacturiency. Desire of touching.
Wine-Knight A person who drinks valiantly. ( Bob,...maybe?)
Xanthodontous. Having teeth that are yellow.
Xenogenesis. Offspring that does not resemble parents.

There are loads more, but these will do for now.

Ho! Ho! Ho! I can see smiling faces.

A beautiful sunny Autumn day, with the leaves falling at staggered intervals. A beautiful sight....If only the world was free of wild, insane, moronic crime, and hatred of fellow beings.

OK, I might sound like a self-righteously moralistic old Fusspot, but don't you all agree with my wishes?
I bet my Hush Puppies that you all do!

Good to hear from you again.
That is a lovely song ,it brings back memories of an old friend of ours who use to sing that song he had a lovely voice.
It was a great day yesterday ,we had visitors and sat out in the garden for about two hours enjoying the sun.It was warmer out there than indoors.

Pauline
That is great to have a postcard with one of your relatives on ,wish I had one.
You are doing a lot of work down there ,don't go over doing it shifting all that furniture about.I'm sure it will look great once you have it all done ,have you started the wallpapering yet.

We are still stripping the wall paper of the hall and stairs and stripping all the paintwork back to the original wood .What a job it is but we are only doing a bit each day as there is no rush.

We are also having the copper hot water tank changed too,the one that is here at the moment is a 50 gallon tankgoodness knows why the people before us wanted such a huge tank it costs a fortune to heat all that water .With the price of gas and electric these days and the world fast running out of these things we thought it the best thing to do.
As you can imagine the whole house is a tip.

The Music Man,
By jingo, you've done it again M8,...you've made my day! Aren't those old songs from way back, a pleasure to listen to, like...Beneath The Lights of Home sung by the one and only Deanna Durbin, and Born Free sung by Matt Munro

You can tell by my favourite pieces of music that I'm only 36 years old.

Sorry I have not been on line the past 2 days but we have had the plumber and electrician in doing some work for us .The power had to be put off for a while.
What a job the plumber had draining the 6 foot tank and then getting it out of the airing cupboard and down the stairs ,took much longer than expected.
Still it is all done now ,just have to paint inside the airing cupboard and put a couple of new shelves in as there is much more space in there now , then fill it up again with all the junk that was in there.

Next job on the list is a new garage door ,must get it done soon before it falls on our heads.
At this rate I can't see us affording a holiday next year.

Yes we have been doing a lot of work just lately ,we have not done it all ourselves our daugters and their partners have helped us as and when they can .They all work so it is not so easy for them to do much.
We were going to move but decided we like it where we are and get on well with the neighbours so we decided to give the old place a bit of a make over.
The way the house market is these days it is not a good time to move anyway.

Think we have over done it a bit as we both have sore throats and headaches and feel a bit rough ,no doubt from all the dust we have stirred up .
I think honey and lemon and a couple of aspirin and off for an early night.

What would I like for Christmas ?? errrmmm .A week away in a posh hotel and to be waited on hand and foot ,also a box of Black Magic Chocolates every day. YUM YUM

I expect you'll be glad to see the end of all the work, 'cos you both ain't 21 any more, even though you may be able to get on with odd jobs here and there. I found that I was able to do various work around the house till I was in my late seventies, but then things started to be out of my reach,..like climbing ladders and clearing out gutterings. It got a bit dodgy from then on, so I called it a day and only tackle a 2 rung stepladder these days.

Hope you haven't had too bad a throat and headaches cold, you must have inhaled dust as you say, and the old nose is a culprit at picking up various germs.
BTW, don't forget to have the flu jab. I read in yesterday's paoer that this winter's flu is expected to be a real baddy,...its the one from Brisbane Australia, and it has played havoc to date. So, don't forget the jab.
No, it certainly isn't the time to consider moving house at the moment, is it!

Yeah, not a bad idea atall for a Christmas present, and with the present sky-high hotel prices, I don't think I could afford to treat you and M to such luxury. Ho! Ho! A box of Black Magic every day would be nearer my financial status.

We will be glad when all the work is finished,it is taking us ages as we are only doing a bit each day.We had a lovely restful day yesterday M watched sport all day and I did a jigsaw will rest again today so we will be raring to go again tomorrow.

Will be getting our Flu jabs in a week or two ,I dread it as I have a phobia about needles.

Don't think I would really go away for Christmas as I like to see the children and grand children at that time of year.
Would still like the Black Magic though. LOL

It's not just ONE thing or person Fussy, EVERYTHING seems to be going wrong for me lately. It's a long story and I haven't got time to explain it at the moment as I'm strggling to get something finished by tomorrow morning, but I'll tell yo all abot it as soon as I get a spare hor or six !

And to cap it all, I heard on the news that Icelandic banks are now having financial problems, and most of my money is invested over there (they paid the highest interest) so I'm now worrying myself silly over THAT as well (I can see me having to go out busking any day now ! )

So sorry to hear that things are not going too well for you at the moment ,here's hoping that things will sort out for you soon .
It is so depressing when one thing after another goes wrong.

It is quite worrying the way things are going with the banks ,we have a few shares with HBOS and the have rocketrd down and now worth only peanuts.
I told Moonraker today I am getting all our money out of the banks and things and putting it under the matress ,best place right now I think.

This dam weather does not help much either it has been pouring down with rain today and really rough wind , we had to go out shopping in it as we were fast running out of everything.

Looks like the winter is settling in and the heating will have to go on full time and looks like the bills will be massive as the prices have rocketed up.

All doom and gloom ,sorry if I have depressed you all.

Oooooh! Well, I can understand you panicking about the perishing banks problems Pauline, but quite frankly I can't see these clever money mongers failing to iron things out in the end.
Mark my words,...it won't be long before they will be raking in the cash again, and the every day hard working folk will somehow or other bear the brunt of things, as usual. But the 'interest' will be affected, no doubt.

Yeah, it's lousy weather innit BG. And the forecast for the rest of this month is not good,...storms and lashes of rain, so get the old wellies out. Let's hope we have a lovely dry spell over the Christmas period.
