On this day in 1965 (which by coincidence was also a Sunday !) we were on holiday in Dinas Cross and our friends Louie and Bill (who lived there) took us down to Milford Haven in their car to see what was then the biggest Oil-Tanker in the world which was anchored in the Haven !

BG I have had a few showers as well now as the day progressed.
Oh no! Here comes another of her daft poems I here you say ROFL
POEM WHY
I often wonder I wonder why?
There are so many birds up in the sky
I often wonder I wonder why?
So many people do things that make me cry
I often wonder I wonder why?
God allows little children to die
I often wonder I wonder why?
God allows the wicked lie
I often wonder I wonder why?
Why am I sat here day dreaming Letting this day pass me by
I often wonder I wonder why?
Is my name really Princess Di? Nay Nay I couldn’t say
The weathers fine in my bay Where or who I am I could not give away
But I do often wonder WHO am I anyway!!

Princess Di Those days you keep putting up of how many days it is until Christmas are quite frightening it is coming up on us fast now . Saw the first lot of Chrismas goods for sale in our local Co-op last Saturday . It is far too soon to have them out they should not start selling them until about a month before Christmas .They seem to be taking away all the magic and excitement out of Christmas by dragging it out for months .

Pauline Collins is married to John Alderton. They both used to be in 'Upstairs Downstairs' and various other TV series, she was also in the film 'Shirley Valentine'. Recently she's been popping up sometimes as one of those stars that they show at the beginning of ITV progrmmes. I've got dozens of Rolls-Royces ---- but they're all models ! Ha-Ha ! I've never owned a real car as I can't drive Our friend Margaret who lived across the road here drove an old Morris Minor which used to belong to her Mother. I'll tell you a story about her and the car later today.

Well to start at the very beginning (a very good place to start ! Lah-Lah !) I think I've mentioned Margaret before, she was married to George (the Leprechaun Gardener ) She was a great gal, always cracking jokes, and one of the nicest people around here, but sadly she died of a Brain Haemorrhage some years ago when she was only around the age that I am now. Margaret was a native of this place, when she was young her family lived in an old cottage which used to be across the lane almost opposite this house, but it's not there any more (they later moved across to the house where Pete now lives) In those days Margaret's Mother was the District Nurse and because she had to cover such a wide area she had a Morris Minor car. This was back in the days when there weren't that many cars around and old cottages didn't have garages, so she didn't have anywhere to park it. She couldn't leave it in the lane because it's quite narrow there and what traffic there was in those days, such as Farm vehicles, or the Post Van wouldn't have been able to pass it to get to the cottages further down the lane. So one day Margeret took a spade and went out and dug out that layby where Pete now parks his van ! You've seen the layby so you can imagine how much effort it took to dig out all that earth (and I know that the surrounding banks were also much higher then than they are now, as they were only flattened out a few years ago when they started planting those flowers) God knows how she did it, it's as much as I can do to dig a hole to plant a bulb in ! By the time we came to live here and Margaret and George were living in one of those houses on the other side of the road and Margaret's Mother was living in a big house in Tenby with her second husband. They were both in poor health so Margaret used to drive back and fore between here and Tenby to look after them both, and she drove that same Morris Minor car that used to belong to her Mother ! It was so sad that Margaret died when only in her 50's while her Mother who was old and not in very good health, outlived her by quite a few years.

I remember seeing the layby when we passed by your house ,there was a white van parked there ,that must have belonged to Pete . Margarets Mother must have been a very strong lady ,that layby was a fair size for one lady to dig .

Good Morning :-)
ON THIS DAY
Saturday 4th September 2004
Only 112 day until Christmas. Today I’m off to the garden centre to buy plants for my garden. Anybody else like gardening? I don’t really know what I am doing but just like to make it look pretty.
Margaret must have been strong, I remember my Morris minor was quite heavy on the steering. You needed muscles to do a 3 point turn.
How big is Wales? Just over 20,000 square kilometres. At its widest it's 200 kilometres east to west, and 250 Kilometres north to south.
ON This Day – Music 1952 - Gladys Knight & the Pips were formed after a birthday party for Bubba Knight.
ON This Day – Sport 1990: Manchester United's Steve Bruce became the first top-flight player to be red-carded under the new professional foul rule, in a match against Luton.
ON This Day – History 1957 - The Ford Motor Company introduced the Edsel. (What’s an Edsel like?)
ON This Day – Birthday 1917 - Henry Ford II - industrialist d: 1987 (is he something to do with the Ford motor car?)

It was Margaret herself who dug out the layby FOR her Mother BG. She was quite strong although she wasn't a big person, smaller than me ---- but she could move things that I couldn't lift, and she was a hard worker, which is why it was such a shock when she died. Their daughter and her husband had been visiting from Canada and Margaret and George had just got back from driving them to the Airport for their flight back. George went to the house and Margaret said she felt a bit funny then collapsed. Imagine how awful it must have been for her daughter to arrive home and get a phone-call to say her Mother had died, after just leaving her at the airport a few hours earlier ! I've always thought Margaret worked TOO hard, with her own house and garden and all that constant to-ing and fro-ing between here and Tenby certainly didn't help. She'd also been depressed because her Dog, Rexie had died and she'd had a couple of other problems and hadn't been her usual cheerful self, but no-one could ever have expected her to go so quickly like that. I still laugh thinking of some of the things she said and did (it was Margaret who gave me that Funny-looking tomato in the photo I had on my website, and what she said about that I won't repeat in mixed company ! LOL )Yep, she was a Hell of a girl !

Yep, Margaret was a real comic, we used to have a lot of fun with her, the things she said would have you in stitches ! I'm not too sure where that photo is these days. It was originally on one of the Freeserve pages and most of them have been transferred to the 2cuk site, but as you say I haven't seen that photo recently, I'll have to have a potter around and see if I can find it again.

I don't agree with all these special days they have for practically every relation you have .It only use to be mothers day and that was a religious thing I believe ,when you went to church as a child you were given a card with pretty flowers on it and a religious verse inside to take home for your mother . The big card and gift businesses jumped on the band wagon and invented a day for every body .Now they are raking in the money .
Wish I'd thought of it first . LOL .Only Kidding.

It seems almost everybody's got a special day now, Mothers, Fathers, Grandparents, in America they've got things like Secretaries Day and just about anything else you can think of. Trouble is I don't seem to fit into any of the categories Maybe I should start one of my own----do you think anybody would support an "Old Maids Day" ? LOL !

BG, I've got a good idea for you to give-up the cigarettes craze. 'M' must have a money-box (with lock and Key,) and every time you strike up and smoke a ciggy,...you must put £5 in the box. If you cannot resist the urge it's going to cost you dearly. Just imagine...5 fags a day is 25 'smackers,' and that could cause a nervous breakdown, because 'M' has full authority to give all proceeds of the money-box to your grandchildren to pay for their holiday in Tenby next summer. So BG, my advice is...stop puffing the fags right away. Ho! Ho! Ho! Why am I so concerned for you BG?

Fussy I would love to give up the old weed .I have tried so many times and failed ,my birth sign did say I was weak willed .
Your Idea sounds good , but if I failed and smoked a few cigarettes a day ,where would I get the money from to put in "M" money Box ,I have not worked for years and years .I would have to get the money of "M" so not only would he be buying the cigarettes he would then also have to pay my fine for smoking them . I don't think he will like that one bit .LOL

BG, No, no, no...'M' would have complete control see. If you smoked one fag he would demand that you put £5 in the box. If you refused he would grab your packet of cigarettes, and stop you handling any cash whatsoever, so that you wouldn't be able to buy any more. Bit cruel like...I must admit, but good for your health though innit. He would grab your Visa card as well. Ho! Ho! Ho!

Pauline That sounds really cruel ,but I think I would get so desparate for a ciggy that I would quickly learn to use my toes instead of my fingers and smoke it through my nose .OH YUK LOL .
Stitching up my mouth would not be such a bad idea though as I would not be able to eat so I could loose a bit of weight .

BTW it is 2 years now since I reached the age to qualify for a bus pass .I have never bothered to claim it as I have not been on a bus for years so they would be wasted on me . You would think for those of us that have cars they could give us petrol vouchers instead . Fat chance of that ,they won't even give us a decent pension to survive on .
Another thing you will get when you are 60 is a £100 heating allowance ,bet you can't wait to become a senior citizen .

I have just realised that I must be the baby on this site. I'm 37 mind you today I feel about 137. I am aching from head to foot. With all the rain we have had over the last few days my back door step had become quite slippery. As I went out on Friday afternoon to lock the shed I slipped and fell out of the door. My knees are brused and I think I have pulled a muscle in my back/hip. It gave me quite a fright and shook me up a bit. I didn't do any postings yesterday as I was feeling miserable and it was uncomfortable to sit at the PC desk. Anyway that's enough moaning from me for today LOL
I can't wait to be a pensioner all these perks. By the time I get there we will get nothing though. I think you should all make sure you are claiming for everything you can get. I'm sure there is a government web site with details of everything you can claim for. I'll try to find it later.
Milly is doing great and enjoying her Chicken wings. She was very alert and lively this morning when I got up. Her cage was trashed she had turned everything over.

Blimey that is two invalids he will have to look after ,you and the hedgehog. Glad to hear that Milly is livening up ,she is getting very good treatment by the sounds of it .If you keep feeding her chicken she should be fat enough to hibernate in October .

Hi Larry
Hope your well?
I wish I did have a few baileys in me when I fell. I might have bounced a bit better. I was glad nobody saw me I went down like a lead weight and not very graciously at all. Once the pain went I felt really silly LOL
You wouldn't have to lie down in the road for me to take you in. I am such a pushover when it comes to a cute fluffy face! The neighbours seem to think I am Dr Dolittle or something, anything happens to any animal in our street and they all bring it to me!!
Now whats all this about your ancestors eating Hedgehogs!!!! All I can say to that is Larry behave yourself or I'll get Mint sauce out!!!!! ROFL

Hi Princess Di, Sorry to hear about your fall. Was it before or after you made the "Hot Toddy".??? My Dad used to take a shot of Whisky in a mug of hot milk. Trouble was, he used to take a drink then top it up with another Whisky. This went on for about 1 hour then he would go to bed happy.

Moonraker that sounds good to me!! LOL
The smokings not going too bad. I have only smoked 10 since Friday It's a start as I was smoking 20 a day before.
Milly is good today. When I went to check on her at 6am this morning she was climbing up the side of the cage. I changed her bedding and warmed her hot water bottle to try and encourage her to go to sleep for the day. I kept putting her on her hot water bottle and covering her with a small towel, she is so funny she kept pulling it back off and looking at me as if to say but "I'm not tired, give me more chicken" I have discovered her weakness Digestive biscuits. I think she is getting too tame when I go into her she comes to meet me and takes the food from my hand. The helpline said not to release her until she sleeps in the day. I think I am going to have to stay up all night and keep her awake and tire her out to sleep the next day.

princess Di, Oooooooh! Sorry to hear about you falling, hope it wasn't too nasty. Play-up to hubby with a few tears....then you'll get some molly-coddling from him. Us chaps are gullible when it comes to a few weeps from the spouse. Ho! Ho! Ho!
Well, Milly is certainly spoilt,...isn't it amazing how they respond to kindness. She's not dull, she's got her head screwed on the right way, she knows she's on to a good thing,...chicken and biscuits, and soft-talk.
BTW, tell hubby he has no fear of losing his young love to Fussy, 'cos Fussy is well 'past it' at three score and twenty two. Ho! Ho! Ho!

princess Di, I forgot,...I meant to give you a tot of my Baileys in my last thread, to help you recover from your fall. So,...hold out your glass, keep it steady now as I can't afford to spill any,...you are still a bit shaky though, a bit nervous after the fall see! Ready now, OK...blwb, blwb, blwb, blwb, blwb, blwb, blwb, blwb. That's a double Baileys you've got there. Sip it slooooooowly, make it last twenty minutes,...smoooooooth innit. That would knock you back a 'tenner' in a La-Di-Da pub in Edinburgh. Ho! Ho! Ho!

Fussy you must be very proud of your age. You are never past it! You should view mature people like vintage cars. Keep them well oiled and tuned. So yep the Baileys is keeping you well oiled and your humour and fun on this site is keeping you well tuned. A true classic Gent if you ask me.

Hi there princess Di,I'm Fluffy.I haven't posted for a while for a number of reasons altho I've been looking in now and again to see what himself has been saying, and after reading what was said about me earlier on I thought it was high time I signed in and spoke up for myself! First of all to answer your question about whether him and me are an item,if by that you mean have we been together for a long time and do I have to pick up his dirty socks from all over the place then the answer would probably be yes,but if he's going to go around telling all and sundry that I'm a bit younger' than him when everybody KNOWS that I'm only 25(and they've known it for at least the past 8 years!LOL)then we might not be together for very much longer (In fact I might brain him with his shovel ) Second of all on the subject of me being a gopher,I think BG might be confusing things a bit there!I'm not a gopher as in the Latin 'Geomyidae' sense of the word,The Gravedigger calls me his Gopher for 2 reasons, no 1 is because I 'go fer' things(mostly things he's forgotten or is just too bone idle to 'go fer' himself ) and no 2 is because, well, ahem, because he says gophers are small, cute and fluffy--just like me!

Oh btw, just to clear up any further misunderstandings, when I say I'm fluffy I don't mean that I'm covered in fur---it's just a nickname I've had since schooldays,it's a play on my name.In other words I'm not called Fluffy BECAUSE I'm a gopher,I've been Fluffy almost all my life but I've only been a gopher since I teamed up with The GD

Yes, you're right BG, a couple of my postings have disappeared into thin air. I don't think it's my fault though,...it's all due to the funny do-das that seem to attack this forum from time to time. Ho! Ho! Ho! 'do-das'.... that's another funny remark innit! Keep smiling,...it's good for the appetite.

I must say that we don't seem to get so many things going wrong on here as we use to . The odd blip now and then we can cope with .
Do-das is a very stange expression indeed and used do describe lots of things . I wonder who first came up with that word .
